River Tay
The Big and Mighty River Tay in Perthshire, well known for it's salmon and sea trout but not it's Grayling and Brown Trout Fishing.
As the Rivers International was being held on the River Tay in 2012 and I was the Captain of the Scotland Team I spent a lot of time there this year. It was an real eye opener, the trout fishing is superb and the dry fly and wet fly fishing is out of this world.
Some fish I had in 2012 below
With some stonking grayling and some very large brown trout's to be caught with browns in excess of 5lb caught every year, sadly mostly by the salmon anglers. A very under-estimated river for the trout and grayling fisherman.
With stunning scenery and loads of tourist places to visit ideal place for a wee break away. Lot of superb accommodation locally in Pitlochry and Dunked with fine restaurants and shops.
There are various beats that are fishable, but I have my favourites and will always try to book there first.
IMPORTANT - when fishing these beats for Trout and Grayling we must always respect the Salmon anglers and stay out of their way. I have never personally had any problems with this and it certainly does not hinder me in catching fish.
