River Clyde
Some of the best brown trout river fishing in
Scotland, the Clyde trout are unique in that they have a very small
spots and it makes them almost marble looking, they are truly stunning
fish.
The River Clyde is about a 1hr drive from Glasgow Airport
and provides me with some of the best fishing in the country and also
the most water in the country. The Clyde had many miles to fish with
one permit covering most of that water.
There are a good head of
Grayling making a return to the river and there is a huge head of wild
brown trout in the river with some Sea Trout and Salmon also.

I
have guided for people from all over, including Tasmania's Chris
Bassano who is a professional guide down under and they have all loved
the Clyde. Of course this is also where the World Famous Clyde Style
flies were developed and used. The Average size of trout and grayling
is 3/4lb but it is not uncommon to pick up much larger fish with the
biggest I heard about in 2007 was just under 7lbs. I personnaly have
ahd a few 3lb fish in both grayling and trout.
It is a wonderful
place with gorgeous hard fighting wild browns and only a short 1hr
drive form Glasgow or Edinburgh. So why no make it a weeks visit and
enjoy the sites and grab a few days fishing at the same time.

NB*
One day trips to the Clyde are possible with collection and drop off
from Glasgow Airport by myself possible, contact me for information.
The Three T's
The Tay and Rvier Tummel
(Both there rivers will be part of the Venues used in the Fips Mouche World Championships in 2009 in Scotland)
The mighty River Tay and River Tummel more famous for their Salmon rather than their trout and grayling.
The Tay and Tummel as in Perthshire and have some very good trout and grayling, more trout than grayling. They are part of the same river system where they join further downstream and the river Tummel being controlled in height by the dam further upstream.
Where th famous Double Decker fly by Neil Sinclair was invented by using double deer hair wings to allow the fly to be used in the heavy water where those big fish like to sit.
At least one of these rivers will be used in the World Championships in 2009 and is used regular for international competition also. The Rivers International will be held there this year 2008 with Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland all going for Tummel Gold.
NB* About 2hrs drive from Glasgow Airport, collection and drop is can be arranged for day trips dependent on flight times, Sunday Fishing is allowed and generally better due to less Salmon Anglers on the rivers.
The River TweedThe river tweed is another river more famous for its salmon than its trout and grayling. The tweed has many nice beats which a full of hard fighting and sometimes very large trout and grayling.
Located about 1hr from Edinburgh and 2hrs form Glasgow it is in easy reach and collection form the Airport is once again possible.
NB* No Sunday Fishing on the Tweed
The tweed is a regular venues of some of Scotland's Top Rivers fishermen and most successful in competition as they all stay within 10 miles of each other and mostly all stay on the banks of the tweed. It is where I have learned many things about river fishing and enjoy fishing there as you never know when the next fish will be a whopper.
